  • Any difference/reason to pull TT with a 1-ton dually vs. 3/4 fleet side?

Ive got the option of pulling a 31' travel trailer to Colorado in 3 weeks with either a 1 ton Dually (diesel) or a 3/4 ton fleet side SRW truck. Ive never driven/pulled with a dually before, but given the option, is there any real benefit to choosing the dually? which would you choose?

Fleetside myself. I have towed with both and the dually just seemed to walk the road more.

I would only mess with a dually If I was towing a heavy 5th wheel.

I'd personally run the dually, esp with a bumper pull. It'll help keep the ass end from swaying all over the place.

Negligible. But add an additional $500 at tire time. Bumper pulls suck. That being said, I preferred my dually vs fleetside on a bp.

If the SRW is a diesel the yes, if not then go for the dually. Dually is great for towing, but when it comes to driving around town once you get there and parking etc they suck.

For sway control with that long of a camper you can't beat four rear tires, and the longer wheel base in the srw is a short bed.

Dually will lose 1/2 mpg unloaded, when towing not much difference.

either will be fine just remember if the ass end of the trailer gets in front of you gas on it!

What ever has the better brakes, getting up the hills is easy, you don't get a second chance if you heat up the brakes.
