Most new cars have 0% financing right now so I would be going through the dealership... but new Ford and dodge trucks are still well over 30 k new even with all of the incentives.
most of the "0%" offers require you to give up a rebate...this way you take the rebate and get the 2.99, which will be the best way to go, usually. (obviously on new) i don't know what to tell you about the used car, though.

I really wish I was in the market for a house.. If the economy stays in the crapper until summer, I hopefully will be.

I think for most, everyone is going to want to know how good of a credit score they'll have to have in order to get something like 2.99% before they go having another hard pull on their credit report.

Drive a beater until you can pay cash! Life is good without car payments!! Drove a lot of beaters until I could pay cash for a new vehicle. Used the car payment that I wasn't making to buy a nicer house that actually appreciated in value. Dave Ramsey Rocks!

Those are not "average" credit scores by any means, and probably 65-70% aren't even in the 700's.

                          821 is stellar.

i haven't checked my credit for a while, so i'm not certain what my scores are...last i checked, they were in the high 700s, if i remember correctly. you can call them and ask, though...they have their phone number on their site and, when i called, i got a live person very quickly.

and over a month later, I call them back to finish up some paperwork (completely forgot about refinancing) and its done. 2.99% for a 5 year old truck with 85000 miles. My interest rate is dropping from 6%.
