  • Thinking of buying a 1988 Thunderbird Turbo Coupe

I'm thinking about buying a 1988 Thunderbird Turbo Coupe. It's got the 2.3 in it. Does anyone have any experience with these cars?

My dad bought one brand new in 1987. Kept it for 10 years. He had problems with it throwing the timing belt. Other than he loved the car and is only complaint was the oil change process with the turbo. Manual stated that you must turn the motor over without it starting to refill the tubor with oil after doing the oil change.

Is this still true for newer turbod cars?

heh no, even my 95 GST didn't require it.

                      That's a pain.

They are decent cars. It's not going to be anything fast though. If you really want a tbird that inexpensive try to find a supercoupe.
