Blake's a big boy. I'm not sure how well the Subie will treat his legs.

Stay away from the Mazda's. We got rid of one a year ago and it was the best thing we ever did. We had weird problems with that damn car.

I picked up a 2008 Grand Prix with the 3.8 ltr (which is a very good motor with 43k miles) for $10k from the local dealership.

Yeah I thought about that too. I think WRXs are pretty roomy with low seat heights. I could be way off though, been a while since I've been in one. Im a little guy so everything seems roomy to me lol. Doesn't matter anyway, he wants a auto.

Not of a fan of the VQ35 engines or the RE5R05A transmissions in the G35. They are both very expensive, as in you might as well be driving an Audi expensive and they have a high failure rate.

Mazda 6 is a decent car but for reliability it can't hold a candle to anything Honda/Acura produces. The TL is the obvious winner in your list.

I'd definitely look at anything Lexus. The IS series is relatively affordable and the drivetrain is well proven. They also have the ES and LS series depending on your budget.

I really dig the looks of the CTS. I'm actually looking for a steal on a CTS-V; but when I drove the regular CTS, it was a downer.

I'd definately need the V... that's what she said!

You are going to have a hard time finding a TL for 10k. That being said, increase your budget by 5k and get a 05+ TL. I did a ton of research when looking for a car for the Mrs. and kept coming back to the TL (which she already wanted). We both really like it. If you haven't driven one yet, you're more than welcome to come by.

I love my girlfriends G35. Though I knew nothing of the issues you all are talking about when she bought it....makes me a bit nervous now!

I agree with the TL assessment, it is the best car of the bunch. You will have to increase your budget though.

We have had an '05 Mazda 6 with the 3.0 V6 since new. It has 108K on it now, and still going strong. It has only had regular maint., and the #2 coil pack went out. Great car, the wife drives it from Ft. Worth to Dallas 3 times a week, and I trust it completely.

Wow, fantastic feedback so far guys, I really appreciate it.

It seems like the G35 might be the winner if it's under warranty, but it's hard to beat a Honda/Acura for reliability.

Thanks for the advice so far. Keep it comin'.

Another vote for the 05+ TL. If you end up stepping the budget up to the 15k range you might consider the Infiniti M35 as well.
