dog in the bed of a truck

Friends uncle had one, it rode on the tookbox. He had to swerve to miss debris one day and tossed the dog at 60mph, it did a few rolls and took off running after the truck.

My dog loves riding in the bed of the truck, when she was a puppy she actually jumped out of the window riding inside the truck at about 5-10mph. (a little road rash above her eye, but mainly unharmed) After that she learned you stay in the damn truck when its moving lol. I let her ride in the back seat of the Jeep as well with no top or doors.

I just got back from picking up my dog from the vet and I figured I let him ride in the bed. I did tether him down on a short leash so he wouldn't try to jump out, but as I was doing that a lady walked buy and petted him and said to me, "be careful, don't get in trouble."

Not illegal in Texas.

That absolutely breaks my heart, I can't believe that he got up and then the guy started pulling off again. I was glad to see him moving again though. Not really what were talking about here though.

Get real. I'm not killing my dog if he jumps out. He's committing suicide, and I'm getting a new, hopefully smarter dog.

If you put the dog in the bed, start the truck and walk away. Re-affirm that he'd be wise to stay in there until you get him out. If he won't listen to you then, chances are he'll end up a greasy spot on the road somewhere.

I let mine ride inside with me, I just put towels or a blanket down... I hate seeing dogs in the bed of trucks.
