The clerk was an older gentleman whom I feel will do the right thing. I didnt have time to find the rightful owner. Someone may return to the store to see if it was turned in. If not, it doesnt bother me that the clerk pockets it. Its on his conscience. As far as the money...it wasnt mine and I make that amount in just over an hour at work so my conscience is worth more.

what exactly would the camera catch? You using the ATM, and leaving with money? I doubt the camera would be able to tell how much money you took, unless of course you counted it in front of the camera...

Don't most ATM's have camera's in them? I assumed they would know the amount taken from someone's account and a pic/video at the time the transaction took place.

Right, but if someone left the money in the tray, or said they did. Then you came and used the ATM to withdraw money, and left. How would the ATM camera know how much money you left with, and if the person before didn't take their money?

I'm really suprised at some people's ignorance to common things like this... You guys do know how the internet works right? you can lookup all kinds of shit.

When I was 16 I pulled some $200 out of the bank and apparently either the lady couldn't count, or a bunch of twenties were sticking together because they were new. When I went to buy something with the money I took out I realized I had $160 extra. I went back to the bank and they literally wouldn't take it back. They said it was in my possession now and the teller who was new and had slipped up had been docked the $160 for her error. So I held onto the money until the next time I saw her and I gave it to her in the parking lot of the bank before she went in to work one day. There's no call for what that bank did to her and how they treated their employee. She was new and I'm sure they just could have scared her into learning her lesson instead of docking her check.

We found a ladies wallet at a bar a few months back, we turned it into the bartender and he recongonized it as a regular customer, she just happen to be there that night. He told her who turned it in and she came over and thanked us, even bought us a pitcher of beer. She was very thankful because there was some pictures of her deceased sister or mom and she was crying, that alone made it worth doing the right thing.
