You sir are still the proud owner. Sorry to have to tell you that. You can go online and do a change of ownership filing for the state. This way anything else that comes in should go to him.

Also I'm curious as to how you sold him a car with a lien on it...???

Jaymes Sendo titled it into his name on 11/15/10.

Incorrect. Publicdata (or wherever you get your info) only purchases tag/VIN data about once a month or so. Usually the info is correct but if someone recently made a change (as in this case)... the info will be wrong.

Yea it doesn't happen very often, but it does occasionally. PD owns me sometimes!

What are you using? PM me if you'd like 'cause whatever it is I'd like sign up for it... if I can.

I filled out a forum and sent it in a few days after i sold the car, but never heard back from the state. It might have got lost in the snail mail.

I borrowed the money from a CD that i had. Left it in the banks name, sold the car for profit, paid the CD off and transfered the title over to his bank.

I'll just say that it's pretty close to real time data, and isn't accessible to most people (heh).

Depends what he means by "tickets". Since he mentioned it to you, I'm curious. Most tickets are issued to the address of the driver of the car. Red light tickets and toll violations come to the registered address of the auto. If you get a toll bill, you'll have to go up there and contest it by showing proof of when you sold it, i.e. Bill of Sale, canceled check, or something. The NTTA customer service people (even the ones you meet in person) are the biggest idiots in the world. I had to go contest some crap on a company related matter about 2 years ago, and we had a mound of documentation and they wouldn't budge. I think they just finally got tired of me and eventually dismissed the tickets.

He just said in the text that he "ran the toll" on his way to Waco (He came and bought parts from me this last week). I'm guessing it is the one in Austin. He said he will pay them, which is what i would expect from him, but i just dont want it showing up on my driving record or giving me any problems later on down the road.

Yeah, for some reason my NTTA tolltag doesn't work well in Austin (even though it's supposed to). It will likely go to the registered owner of the vehicle when he ran it, but since it was just titled over, who knows. lol. It's not that big of a deal. I just looked at mine from 11/17/08 and the toll was $.60 but they tacked on a $5.00 admin fee. I called them and they waived the admin fee.

Good deal, thanks for all the info guys. I would say I would buy you a beer, but since I'm in Waco, that's a little hard to do. If you so happen to ever need car parts let me know, I work at LRS.

That's why you pull the plates off when you sell a car.

I think just going online and submitting the change of ownership can save you the trouble of pulling of the plates...

Yea, pulling the plates really isn't that much of a PITA, but I wouldn’t want to drive home in a used (new to me car/truck) that I just bought with no plates. So really, I see it as a selling point more than a PITA

Why would it matter? The buyer of the car can fill out a Vehicle Transit Permit.
