Good job reading. DCAD won't show what a house sold for. It only shows the estimated value.
DCAD (Denton) does show what it sold for on some properties. I can look at my neighbors and about half show the sales price so its probably worth a try. Look down a the "records" section
It should, enter the address and scroll to the bottom where the charts/graphs are... there should be a $ symbol showing the sale price of the house. You may have to update the chart for a wider range if the house has not been sold in the last 5 years.
It's public data through whatever county's Appraisal District you are in. And sometimes contesting works and sometimes it backfires. My parents neighbor contested his tax appraisal and after re-evaluation they went up significantly, thus raising his mortgage payment. The housing and property values are in the toilet right now. My house appraised 2K less this year than last year because of the Cherokee Horn drilling controversy and the depressed housing market in general.
You can go online and see your tax appraisal, owner history, plat, and sub-division plat for free online. Has been that for as long as I can remember.
All I'm able to find on DCAD is the propose value not what they actually sold for.
I didn't wanna bother one of our real estate folks but looks as if I may have to,
