  • anybody interested in this? read,, will likey :)

before i post it in the classifieds,,, im just wondering if anybody or anybody yall know would be interested in grabbing this up...

    76 pontiac 400 engine
    rebuilt 25 years ago
    assembled with grease, never started...
new crank, pistons, 301 duration cam, 455 heads, no water pump no carb, no distributor.
will post pics later, its for my dad.... he is having his 69 gto judge restored professionally and didnt want to put this engine in it since it wouldnt make it "original".... him and my uncle being gearheads in their younger days built it from the ground up, piece by piece and its been sittin since then all sealed up. like i said, before i post it in classifieds, give me some input and some offers... spread the word

Which heads? Honestly, seems a little steep for a 25 yr old rebuild that isn't complete. I could see that kind of coin if it was a 455z

he has somewhere a list of all the specs and everything. just has to find it. the heads on it are worth more than the engine itself

Probably the 6x heads then, if they are stock that is...

I'm not really a Pontiac guy (who is? lol) but why would this be so special, is this a rare block or something?

Some numbers I found for the heads.

                              1972 455ci 250 net HP 7M5 2.11/1.77 114 cc

Seems like the pontiac guys don't think too highly of those heads, most give em away or sell them dirt ass cheap. On a 400 block it drops the compression way too much to make any good power in stock form.

edit- The block is a late year 1975 block. Said to have thin main webs, not ideal for a stroker, otherwise all around good block.
edit- The lowballers on this forum are going to have a field day with this listing.
