I don't know what your time frame is, but the Roanoke Fire Dept is full voluntary, and after one year there I believe they will put you through EMT school. You can also do online classes.

I would hope in the event I ever need an EMT there will be some hands on training involved! Sort of like some nurses or the people who draw your blood. I am skinny as fuck, why can't you catch my vein?!

Good luck Levi... Check out TCC's EMT class. Make sure you dont stop there though. You NEED to go to paramedic school. Brookhaven has a good program that is a little faster than TCC.

If EMT school was as competitive as it was when I did it, you better be there at the crack of dawn to sign up. The EMT classes filled up in an hour. Also, check into getting into a fire department after your EMT with a contract to do paramedic school.

You can probably do them online, but if you're still living down there you're going to pay out of area tuition, which is usually double. I believe that applies until you've lived back in the area for a year anyway.

Fall sign ups are not up yet. It should be in late June or early July but dont hold me to that. Get registered with the college (can be done online) so you are ready to rock. EMT school was pretty damn easy. Going to paramedic school will be another story. Just need some dedication.

Not sure how that all pans out. I just know that because one of my son's were trying to get on a few years ago. Was really hard for a boy of 18.

lol... drawing blood is an art. Some people are obviously much easier than others but dont forget veins are only a few mm thick. Its easy to poke through the back side of it. You'd be surprised how much harder it is than it looks.

I've become a pin cushion more than once. My mom was having words with the nurse at one point.
