A friend that I met lifeguarding last year was in an accident yesterday. While skateboarding in my neighborhood he had an anuerism. He was rushed immediately to parkland, and was put in a medically induced comma, from which he can't seem to wake up from. The doctors say his chance of survival is very slim, and everyone is at the hospital praying. His name is also Jeremy, and he is only 15 years old. He is the world to his sister and two brothers. If you could, take the time to say a prayer for him. He needs everything he can get to hold on.

Update:

The doctors have declared no chance of survival. His brain stem is badly damaged. Tommorrow he will be taken off machines and the world will lose one of the most honest, innocent, and wonderful 15 year olds out there. And I'll lose a friend. Thank you for the prayers, and please keep praying.

What's the full story behind this? Injury related? Was he just skating and suddenly collapsed? Sounds like a genetic or congenital defect. I would suggest that everyone in his family be medically evaluated.

They determined that it wasn't an anurism. He was skateboarding home behind a friend and either fell or collapsed. It would appear that he collapsed because the extensive skull damage suggests he didn't break his fall with his hands. His head hit first.

Sounds like he fell and hit his head and this was the cause of his decompensation...probably from an expanding hematoma in his skull causing herniation. He suffered no pain if this is the case. Sorry about your friend.

Update: I've been at his bedside since vistation hours started this morning. The amount of people here to see him is overwelming. The police were called to clear out the hallways. Supporters filled four whole waiting rooms. It is amazing the impact such a quiet kid has on so many. A man walked in and said " Jeremy Is the reason I found christ. "

The last ditch effort was tried this morning; Some kind of experimental medicine, but it did nothing. They will run one more brain activity scan in a couple hours and then remove his breathing tube to let him slowly slip into the hands of the holy father. Thanks for all of your prayers.
