Never been to Fred's. I can tell you Billadelphia's is the real deal. Same bread, Herr's chips, tastycakes, and that birch root beer stuff. I'd say it's worth the drive from Frisco, based simply on the fact that it's the closest I've found in Texas to what you'd get in Philly. And I've had phillies all over Philly. It's the real deal.

Fred's uses amorosa rolls? That's the biggest difference between a Philly in TX, and a real Philly. Bill imports the rolls fresh daily.

I dont know where they get the bread, but its baked daily and good.

EDIT: Their website says they use amoroso's bread.
