The only reason that there's an "in" crowd is that most of us are social creatures. Reading some strangers tale on the web is entertaining, but we generally like dealling and hearing about people we have met and/or shared experiences with.
I experience it weekly on a professional level, most of my businees is done via e-mail or phone, but as soon as I meet with a client, they are so much more inclined to want to work with me personally. Even if most correspondence is done via phone or e-mail, they have a person to talk to, and not just a screen name or e-mail address.
It's no different here, you tend to care alot more for the stories and posts made by people that you've met, and unless your just a fly on the wall at GTGs, you get to know their lives a bit beyond what has been posted. People tend to enjoy posting with their friends over random people on the internet.

That whole "making love" shit is for the birds. I won't get all graphic on my preferences, but if you can't knock the bottom out with a vengeance.... leave me alone
