  • Leaving to India today

Flight leaves from DFW at 9pm tonight, layover in London, and be in Bangalore, India @ 4:30am on Saturday morning (local time, Friday 6pm CDT). This will be my first time out of North America, and I am nervous to say the least. Will be "living" in India for 6 weeks, training staff, and opening a new IT Service Center. Should be an experience, but really wish it was in a more pleasant part of the world.

There's an outsourced joke in there somewhere.

    Good luck to you.

Have fun squatting to take a shit. Also, I hear the sewer systems in India are top-notch!

Yeah I've been talking to him about it. Small world that two people from this sight would be in the same country, at the same time. From what I've been told Chennai is about 4 hours from Bangalore.

I'll be staying in a nice hotel that has traditional western style plumbing, and the office building also has standard restrooms... outside of those two places, hear its usually a hole in the ground.

Yep, the hotel ( http://www.thezurihotels.com/bengaluru/ ) has 3 different restaurants where you can order pizza and hamburgers (made with beef)!

Being Indian, I can say that India is amazing!! The food, the culture, etc. Its definitely going to be a culture shock for first timers. I'm taking the wife (shes American) in a couple years. I'm psyched up to go.

India has so much history and the temples are enormous!

Have fun there! Drink only bottled water. Try the Pav Bhaji (spicy potatoes on buttered bread), try the chaat.. try the sweets. All I can say is that i'm jealous. Cheers!

My cousin is on his way back from there today (for Dell). He kept going on and on about some place named Obaroi for breakfast if you hear about it/can find it.
