Soo let me get this straight. Just because he has paid his taxes from his lottery winnings he should be entitled to the foodstamps? So if I paid $60,000 in taxes in 6 years of me working, I guess I am entitled to foodstamps too?

I mean to an extent, isn't the amount of people on food stamps a reason or one of the reasons why we pay taxes? That sounds a bit "counter-productive" if you ask me.

Doesn't the interest he is getting on the $2m count as income? Or is it just sitting under his mattress?

I figured he had it in a savings account (or several if he was smart) and that'd likely put out atleast 60k a year - no?

I would put my money on it all sitting in a checking account, that will be empty in 24 months or less.

If he has it in a savings account at the bank he'd be lucky to get $8K a year from it. He was on food stamps so I am sure he isn't exactly a rocket scientist when it comes to money.

Or he is getting his money back that he lost thanks to an overbearing tax system, which is kind of the way I look at it. If the government in this country wants to take advantage of me, I'm going to rape them in the fucking mouth if I get the chance.

Yeah, I get what you're saying but we all pay taxes in this screwed up system. It doesn't mean we should all get food stamps. As for him "losing" money I don't really buy that, I mean it is winnings off of a gamble you expect not to lose on. Everyone knows lotto winnings are ass rapings in the event you win.

It is a moot point in my opinion. If he was on food stamps prior ot his winnings he will blow through this money quicker than this thread will be over and he will still be on food stamps. Only then will we be bitching about some asshat soaking up our hard earned tax dollars.

It is a moot point, I agree with that. I just say that he won the lottery fair and square, I just think it is absurd that anyone in this country owes a 40% tax on their income, no matter how much they make or where it came from.
