i have deleted all of the pictures but when they call and ask Mesquite (the first PD i ever applied for) why they denied me they hand over the pictures, so what next time i apply somewhere dont tell them i have applied anywhere?? i have always tried to be as honest as i could in all the applications but i guess thats what is biting me in the ass

a grand? That has to be the cheapest academy I have ever seen. Navarro college is 3k + you have to buy uniforms, equipment and pay for your physical, background, and psych.

also i dont really want to waste my money and sponsor myself as all the major cities make you go thru their academy (if they have one) regardless if you already have been thru one, making it a waste of 3k

You'd be surprised with how little some departments talk to another about a previous applicant.

Right now it is tough to get on at any PD to be honest. Even if you are already certified with experience. Friends of mine have applied at small departments like Wilmer PD and they have like 100 applicants. ( Wilmer requires you to already be tcleose cert.) and 75 or so have been cops for over 2 years. So its tough out there. Cities like mesquite and Dallas get hundreds of applicants.

Mach - Tanner told me it was around a grand from the tcc police academy but that was 3 years ago.

Bonnie - if they ask if you applied other places then I guess tell them. But if they don't ask, then don't tell.

Well not exactly. Dallas, Arlington and Ft. Worth make you go through theirs. Other then that no others in this area make you go through it again. However, the ones that are already certified in those cities do get looked at first. You no longer have to take the test which means you already passed. All you have to really do is learn the way they do things.

mostly all departments ask in the initial background packet

true, i might just have to go that route, just didnt want to take 8 months to do it and then when its time to start applying i come across this problem again and not get hired on with anyone

Over half of my academy class never went on to become police officers. They couldn't get a job anywhere. The class after mine 3/4 of them still have not found jobs (been about a year for them since grad.)

If it is in your background try talking to a record sealing lawyer. Don't know any but they can usually get stuff like that taken care of.

Right. Once you pass the final TCLEOSE test, that is valid through the State of Texas. All you have to do is the ass time in class because the ones listed above include a lot of departmental-specific training.

I was #2 in mine. The #1,2 and 3 went down to Austin that weekend to take it (since we didn't wat to wait). I got an 82, our top dog got a whopping 76 and the other guy failed (can't remember his score). He got it the second ime through. A lot of my class had to do it at least twice. I was fortunate since I was in the PD since 19 (dispatch) and had a lot of support from my "big brothers."

I bet I could have taken it without the damn academy.

It really isn't that hard lol. Some of the questions are just retarded. I had alot of CJ classes under my belt so I passed it pretty easy with an 80. Our highest was my friend who scored a 95. He got a job fast and works in Argyle now.
