VW - blast to drive and one of the nicest interiors you will find under $35k. The APR tune really wakes them up and you will actually get better mpg with the chip. Only regret is not getting the 4 door, the backseat is fine for adults, but the 2 door makes it a pita when you need it.

C5's don't rattle, it isn't a damn third gen camaro for christ sake. I daily drove my C5 for several years, and it got 32mpg on the freeway, and an overall average of 26. I grocery shopped, picked up chicks, and hauled shit in that car and never had an issue. The only factor I would put there is is guilt... daily driving a vette makes you feel a little guilty... like you're putting miles on something you shouldn't be - once mine hit 60k I through it in the garage and bought another daily. Oh, and if you're into buying new factory tires, it will hammer you directly in your ass.

I had to google the VW to even see what the hell it was lol. After seeing it I would take a C5, you should be able to get a 99 dirt cheap even with low miles.

Good god are we really comparing a VW to an LS1 Corvette? Really now?

In all honesty, if it was a daily driver, I would want a warranty on it. If it was a car to have fun in, the C5 obviously. Anybody that says they would pick the 12-13 year old car with no warranty is either full of shit, or just flat out dumb.

I daily drive my 1998 GMC Sierra with 203k miles on it and have zero issues. I promise a C5 Corvette is better built than my truck which was designed in the mid 80's. If you buy a Corvette that has been reasonably well taken care of I can't think of any reason why you would have anything to worry about. VW's aren't particularly known for their high quality (especially the turbo models which are both troublesome and expensive to work on). I know 3 people that have owned Jetta Turbos and a Beetle Turbo and they all got rid of them due to constant problems.

Expensive to work on under warranty? I've known people with vettes that have problems and others that have no issues. That can be said for any vehicle. Those late 80's early 90's chevy GMC's are good trucks. My dad had 250k miles before he finally got rid of it, with very few issues.

I guess I would just rather not have to deal with warranty issues...because warranty or not..your still without your car while they fix it. I've also heard of VW accusing people of abusing the cars and trying to wiggle out of the warranty even when they hadn't abused them (kinda like Nissan/Infiniti refusing warranty coverage on the GT-R claiming it had been raced). I guess I just prefer the good ole American V8 under the hood which probably gets about the same mileage when driven PROPERLY as the VW. I also prefer my power at the back tires. I don't know many people who have had issues with the C5 Vettes unless they just ragged the shit out of em...but I know several people who will never buy another VW because of the problems they had with the NEWER Jetta and Beetle Turbo's.

I'm not even fucking around when I say all I want is 3 specific 80's muscle cars, one of which I already have, after which I'll drive whichever one I feel like every day.

I agree both choices leave a lot to be desired. I will give a warning on the new VWs, I had to do an extended test drive on a brand new one I repaired with 500 miles and hope I don't have to drive another over a mile again. They cheapened the new body style up compared to the previous model, I reccomend a 2010 if you go VW. The stealership told me they reduced costs on it to compete with the Korean car manufacturers. Just a FYI.
