I helped a friend restore a 42 ford gpw that was "running when parked". What a fucking nightmare. 4 years later it's done and sold.

For a hunsky you cant go wrong, but keep in mind if your going back to military specs all the little stuff will nickel and dime you to death.

When I restored my '45 Willys MB I used an old man off Roy Orr in Grand Prairie, that guy was the shit. I use to buy any part I needed from him and he was dirt cheap. Not sure if he is still in business or not though, I'm sure he's passed since then. One time I broke an axle, and he escorted me out on his property, asked me if it was the driverside or passenger. I told him it was the driverside, so he walked to a semi trailer, opened the rear door, and it was full from front to back, all the way to the ceiling with MB axles. Paid $5.00 for one. And the repair manual to remove the broken axle splines from the tube was not to fish it out with a hanger like you would think, it was to tip the jeep on it's side so it fell out on the ground. Worked great.

Haha, atleast I think it was him. Its an old man out of GP. I had been reffered to him by many people that said the same thing you did. He said he was getting out due to health reasons.

It's slow! I've been putting ads out all over craigslist and all the replies I've gotten have been for the MB model jeeps. The other replies I've gotten have been for fully restored jeeps.

Yeah I saw that and I'm waiting for an email back, to me that looks like an older Jeep MB and not a M38.

In 1951 the m38 had the flat fenders, the A1 replaced the m38 in 52.

I gotcha. It's the A1 that I'd like to restore. But that m38 in houston is a great price.
