Where to find real boudin? Heading to Mansfield, LA tomorrow.

I am going to Mansfield, LA just south of Shreveport tomorrow for a wedding. Can anyone tell me any good place along the way I can get some authentic boudin or other cajin treats I can bring back?

Any must see things to do along the way? Not interested in the casinos.

There's one in Longview and one in Lindale. The one in Lindale is pretty close to the highway. The one in Longview is not. They're also home to the Turducken. Most of their stuff is frozen in vacuum sealed bags so make sure you bring a cooler so it'll stay frozen for you.

In the town I grew up in outside of Baton Rouge the best boudin in town was at a mom & pop convenience store. My friends tell me its still there and the stuff is still the best. There are places like that all over but you never know until you try it. There are probably more that aren't so good than the there are really good ones.

This. The best boudin is always at family owned groceries and convenience stores. I love the boudin from The Best Stop in Scott, La. They mail-order, too. Google 'em! You have to have cold cornbread from last night's dinner for cush-cush to go with it, though.

Well to take back with you I'm not sure, but if you want to eat some on the way home, there's a relay station that always has some damn good boudin cooked. Its off of i49 on the stonewall exit...also known as the hwy 175 exit. You may want to pm JimD, I moved a few years ago, so I'm not in town that often, but he lives in the haughton area, and might be able to point you in the right direction.

Ask the locals at the wedding. They'll point you to a mom and pop that has the goods. Eat some boudin for me while you're there.

I gotta say thanks! I picked up a few things and been trying them out. Crawfish stuffed jalapeno poppers, boneless chicken with crawfish stuffing was awesome!
