But I hear you on the shape/health etc. It's a lifestyle that involves healthy choices. Take Elvis for example. No matter what I sold him his tits would continue to grow from the beer and bar food.

This reminds of a time when I nearly lost a good friend because he became convinced that Amway was going to make him a millionaire. Randomly popped in at my parents house one time and try to do a presentation. I had to draw the line the sand. Friendship or Amway bullshit. He said I was over reacting. And my retort to that was I didn't realize you were such a naive dipshit and stop being a douchebag. He chilled out. And life went on.

The biggest issue I see that makes the whole thing stupid is that it doesn't really revolve around the actual product, which is typically either inferior, obscure, or ridiculously overpriced. Instead, everything revolves around the idea of becoming wealthy (which is bullshit). It's not even about selling the product, but about buying into the program and convincing others to buy in. Seems to me that the product is just a front in the first place, and the program relies on (and preys on) gullible people.
That, and the sneaky ass way they try to disguise it on the front end to get you to listen. I've been to "job interviews" where I was dumb enough to believe that a "growing company" needed "managers", until I got there and realized it was a presentation.

I would probably burn the fucking building down if that happened to me. My god, I'd be pissed.

Michael: Don't worry about Phil. He drives a corvette. He is doing just fine. Okay. Calling cards are... the wave of the future. These things sell themselves.
Ryan: Who uses calling cards anymore?
Michael: You know what? That's a nice attitude, Ryan, I'm just helping you invest in your future, my friend.
Oscar: This sounds like a get rich quick scheme.
Michael: Yes! Thank you! You will get rich quick. We all will!
Toby: Didn't you lose a lot of money on that other investment, the one from the email?
Michael: You know what, Toby? When the son of the deposed king of Nigeria emails you directly, asking for help, you help! His father ran the freaking country, okay? ...Alright, so, raise your hand if you wanna get rich. [Jim and Dwight raise their hands] Alright.
Jim: No, um. How is this not a pyramid scheme?
Michael: Alright, let me explain. Again. [draws on board] Phil has recruited me and another guy. Now, we are getting three people each. The more people that get involved, the more who are investing, the more money we're all going to make. It's not a pyramid scheme, it is a... it's not even a scheme per se, it's... [Jim draws a triangle around Michael's diagram] ... I have to go make a call.

Two guys I worked with at the PD were real bad about it. One was just annoying; every time I'd go on a call with the guy or stop for a cup of coffee with him he'd start in the the Amway. I finally just quit started avoiding him.
The other guy really pissed me off. Gotta give a little background - got hurt on the job, forced to retire after being off for almost a year. During that year, very few people I worked with for 20+ years bothered to call. So one day I get a message that one of the guys I trained was trying to get in touch with me. It made me feel good that I wasn't forgotten. I call the guy who hasn't seen me in two years and right off the bat he starts in trying to sell me electricity and trying to get contact info for my new employer in case they might want to "save thousands". Man I was so pissed that this guy was just trying to make money off of me.
