I have friends in Denver and FoCo so I get up there a couple times a year.

Planning to hike Long's Peak this August.

I can jet down to Colorado Springs. Know some decent places there.

Too far. I won't have a lot of time, between activities with family and needing to be at camp before dark. Best I could do would be Buena Vista or Gunnison one afternoon.
