In some cases you might need the lab book, or something that includes a CD, but most times you can rent.

The greatest thing is having to buy books for a class that are written by the professor. Nothing like consistent sales.

Of my 3 favorite professors (and for other reasons than this), 2 of them wrote the book we used, and they both gave everybody in the class photocopies of them. One of them gave extra credit if you found a mistake. The third used an older edition of the book at some stupid cheap price.
