Do you maintain your own pool or have a pool service?

Damn, 50-60 per visit? For the two years maintaining this pool, I've been using Leslie's for testing and chemicals because thet are just around the corner. Their prices suck though...

I stay away from Leslie's and from HTH products. Find a local pool supply that sells professional grade products and you will find pool maintenance is not so hard to keep up with.

I've worked at Leslie's and local pool companies (in D/FW and Lubbock) and Leslie's products are as good if not better than any local shop (stronger active ingredient and less "miscellaneous" ingredients). Cheaper too. Unfortunately most of the people that work at Leslie's don't know that H2O = water so good advice is hard to come by.

I have this problem with my Leslie's sometimes, depends who's working. It sucks when they're short help and you wait for friggin ever. I'll try to be there when doors open most of the time.

Well if I was still living with my parents and had virtually zero responsibility, I would concur.

I've had my pool for 6 years and *almost everything that could go wrong, has. Including my house being struck by lightning, and frying all the pool equipment. I have also had it green and frogs living in it , and I'm up at midnight trying to kill some frogs that are keeping me up all night.

I know how to fix almost anything on a pool now though!

I didn't always live with my parents while I was taking care of the pool.

They had one of the "low chlorine" systems and it hardly took any work to keep it maintained. We got algae about once a year, but we just threw some "Shock" in it and brushed the algae off the surfaces and it was clear and ready to go in 24 hours. Couple pints of miuratic acid once a month, replace the chlorine tablets a couple times a month, a brush down once a week and emptying the skimmers/Polaris sweeper when needed and we were good to go. Was not difficult, time consuming, or any kind of pain in the ass. I will say that it was a good workout sweeping the pool and that if you keep up with your yard and rake and stuff.

Man im trying to. All the money is invested into keeping my pool clean. Plus its easier to get to the front when i lock the gate.

My pool a couple of weeks ago...looked out the window one Saturday morning to see ducks. I let the shit go too far after all the rain...kind of resembles antifreeze, how refreshing...
