quite a few asshats just in this thread, I couldn't imagine the rest of the forum. I do get being leary about just throwing money around to random people on a message board, but no need for the jackassery.

RIP to your friend's dad. Sorry for y'alls loss.

Condolences to you and your friends family. Been though this myself and its added stress to a situation that has already knocked people down to their knees.

Just one of those things most people don't expect (or hope) to prepare for until many years later. I hope even a little bit can help the family focus on more important things at this time.

Thank you for the kind words. I let the wife of the deceased (My best friends mother) read this thread and it brought her to tears that people that dont even know as much as her name could be so generous in both the money being offerd and the time to take a moment and reflect on the situation. There is nothing that feels better than helping someone in a time of need such as this. Thanks again DFW Stangers!!! This forum has by far raised well more than any other. Keep em coming

This may sound shitty, but, they could probably get some fast cash selling the telescope gear he has. When my dad died we were in the same position and I had to liquidate a lot of his model train collection to pay for the funeral costs.

Sorry to hear about this shit. It's never easy to see, even when it's someone you've never met. I'll send you $20 tomorrow when I get paid.

I believe the family is planning on gelling some of his items but unfortunatley it wont touch the expenses that the wife/mother is about to endure. Thanks so much for your generosity good deeds never go unnoticed!

If you would like to possibly coordinate a benefit dinner / lunch / car show or something, I would be happy to help. Let me know if that interests you
