I had some cop chase me down one time in a red Jeep Wrangler on a farm-to-market road. He was coming the opposite way, promptly busted a u-turn after passing by, and came flying back up at me after a minute or so. After noticing what appeared to be some skunkneck road-raging behind me, I sped up some and kept driving to my buddy's house. There are a bunch of tight, winding corners on that road, so he fell behind after the first couple of them. Anyways, just after I pull in at my buddy's place and killed my Mustang, he came sliding in 'Dukes of Hazzard' style, jumps out and comes running up. He digs a badge out of a pocket, says he was a cop and starts making out like I was trying to outrun a police officer. He seemingly got really pissed when I told him I wasn't about to pull over for someone wearing a wife-beater and cut-off jeans driving a jacked-up Jeep flashing it's headlights and honking its horn in what appeared to be a fit of rage. Nothing became of it, he yelled and slobbered for a couple minutes, bitched about my loud exhaust (which is supposedly why he chased me down), and then left. He claimed he was a Hillsboro city cop, off duty.

Now, I have seen the news stories that say for women to drive to the police station, etc, if the vehicle attempting to pull them over is questionable, but really, should a cop be trying to pull you over in a personal vehicle, out of uniform? If you have one trying to do it to you, should you stop?

Don't stop for any vehicle that is not marked. Hell, if I have an unmarked with a strobe trying to pull me over, I'm going to call 911 to see if it is a real officer. Only after verifying that it was infact an officer would I even consider pulling over.

My department has a policy of NOT allowing traffic stops to be made by unmarked vehicles for this very reason.

I would not try to enforce a traffic law off duty, out of uniform, because it is more trouble than it's worth. I have adopted the blinder policy. When I am driving my own vehicle, I put on the blinders unless it's something I just can't turn my back on.

Nothing major. I was coming up to a light, split tail was texting and as I was braking she dropped her phone, slammed on the brakes and started acting like an ass. Throwing her hands up, flipping me off, riding my ass, swerving at me, etc. So I kept it real at 40mph next to a POS Mitsubishi that apparently only had 1st and 2nd gears. The center of the road was free and clear, she just wouldn't pass.

We ended up next to each other at the light I was turning at and she looked away as soon as I made eye contact.

Which spawned the question of what a woman would do if a man responded in a similar away.

Officers can issue summons or tickets for any Class C violaition in their presence or view when that area is in any part of the county that their city is in.

For instance I work in FTW. If I see a violation in Arlington, G.P., or any other city in Tarrant County, Johnson County, Parker County, Wise County, or Denton County, I can take action.

About 60 I figured the PIT was taking it to another level, so I showed mercy, and finally let him steer off my bumper. Took Everything he had to hang on to it, and regain control of his car.

He will think twice next time.
I would bet that felt great!

Much like the guy with the gun to his forehead, he made a choice that put that gun to his head.

Now if you are committing a crime you could be arrested by a cop in plain clothes but it would have to be better then a traffic violation . Chasing someone down because their muffler is too loud is a little bit of overkill I would think. You could get a ticket though even though the Officer does not work in that city. He just has to file it with that court and not his own.
About the muffler thing, it was a '71 Mustang running headers, reversed glass-packs and side-exit in front of the rear wheels. It was on a FM road, so I would go into the corners in second with the exhaust crackling pretty hard, but couldn't go too fast due to the skinny wheels/tires up front and the horrible understeer. I'd romp it coming out of the corner and hit third. It was loud as hell in second.

And as far as stopping for him, I didn't, I kept driving to my buddy's house, I figured if this stupid redneck wanted some shit, it could go down on my homeboy's property. Gotta remember, this was the early 90's, not many people had cell phones then like we do now.

You know the feeling. The rush of adrenaline was high, no doubt. Given the time and part of town, I wasn't going to play my gun is bigger then yours, so i optioned for the secondary's on the Q~jet and put it on his bumper for about a mile or so.

So you can take action in any city that in the county that you are based in, but not other counties? Like you can't issue a ticket out in Kaufman, or Dallas county since you are based in Tarrant county?

I wasn't worried, I'm fluent in cop and she would have been a mouthy bitch that I was convinced wanted to put the public in harms way.

Few things are worse than a woman putting on makeup who comes flying up behind your bike (I have a cruiser) without noticing you. I yanked the bike over to the shoulder and let her pass but that seemed to piss her off even more. She spent the next 5 miles trying to run me off the road because evidently, my red bike pissed her off beyond all reasoning.

I didn't have many options and couldn't outrun her SUV so I just cut over into the passing lane and romped on the brakes and let her go. That's one of the few times I wish that I would have been armed as I think a couple in her fender would have been appropriate.

I'm sure you would have been within your rights. Attempted homicide with an 8000lb rocket.
