  • Lost Luggage

I haven't heard anything back on my luggage in 24 hours and I am just curious as I may have to fill this form out.

So on the claim form it asks how much you paid for the item and how much it is worth in its current state. How do you appraise your socks, undershirts, and boxers? I've never sold used underwear and socks before.....

Hopefully you get your stuff back and it doesn't come to this, but I would report replacement value for everything in your luggage, and maybe pad it just a little, in case they under value everything.

Whewn I've flown with a gun I've been nervous about this very thing, would they pay to replace it, or pay current market value like insurance.

I hope it doesn't either. I have been wearing the same jeans for almost 4 days and having the hotel wash my under garment items...

That sucks Mike. My luggage has only been lost once, and it turned up the next flight in. Luckily it was lost on the return flight, not outbound. I'd be pissed to be in another country and have no luggage.

I had just the opposite happen, I checked in at the maximum 4 hour maximum before my flight (long day working at the airport), and my luggage made it on to an earlier flight. All the luggage had been delivered to the baggage claim and mine wasn't there, I was pissed. Went to the claim area to file a claim, and there was my luggage.

This was on the return flight as well so I wasn't too worried, but my lucky black suit was in the bag, and I didn't want to have to downgrade to blue.

My guess is Mike, that you'll get everything back, it just may take a day or three to find out where it went.

Do you have trip insurance? If so you can purchase new items that you need, and save your receipt and file that under the claim. I know pain in the butt. If you have a Tumi bag, you'll know in seconds where your bag is. lol...

I've had bags stolen, called Tumi tracker and within minutes my bag was locted in a n employees locker at the Narita, Japan airport. I travel to Miami and my bags went to Lima, Peru. Sat on a tarmac in the rain for 4 days. When I got the bag back, ( I had to tell AA where my bag was) goold old Tumi tracker once again. But when I did get my bag, it was so destroyed, and smelled bad. The paid me $900 for the bag, and $1100 for contents.

Oh and if you have insurance, and they ask how much things are worth, go 20% higher, because they only pay on 80% of the value.

What the hell is a Tumi bag? lol I guess, no I don't.

This is what happened and where the disconnect ocurred.

My very first flight was delayed. Since I knew what a delay would do to my 3 other connections, I called and recreated my intinerary. When you travel international your bags must follow you ie your bags cannot leave the country until you or your flight has left. So while my bags were most likely in Chicago I bypassed that connection completely and went to London.

They gave me a $60 voucher to by the essentials but it isn't going to get me much... I will call tomorrow and find out if they can give me a status.....

Tumi is the brand/manufacturer, expensive, but really good quality and has the GPS tracking.

Tumi luggage, has something similar to a lo-jack system build into them. That was the only luggage I would take out of the country.
Hope they find your bags. So when you connected were you international? You should of claimed your bags, and handed them off for transfer.

I just called British Airways and I swear she must have pulled this story completely out of her ass......

First she told me someone tried calling my room for delivery of my luggage. When I told her no one called she said the bag was in Mumbai, then it was in Chennai but then it was waiting for a packing slip before it could leave the airport. blah b lah blah...
