GWB will go down as one of the best Presidents in American History, by the time it's all said and done. Truman had one of the worst approval ratings ever, when he left office, and look at how history has treated him. Time will tell. Wounds are still fresh, feeling are still polarized. I don't agree with everything the guy did while in office, but the book gives a lot of insight to why he made the decisions he did.
That's why I brought this thread back up. People who don't hold a very high opinion of him, would gain some perspective as to why he did what he did, and could very well gain a lot of respect for the man. Obviously he didn't divulge everything, as a lot of it is still highly classified. But he does a pretty good job of setting the tone without giving every grizzly detail.
The story of any war time President intrigues me, and I probably identify with this one more than any, because I didn't live through the Vietnam war, WWII, etc. Did you know Bush personally wrote letters of condolences to the families of EVERY fallen American soldier in Afghanistan and Iraq while he was still in office? So much stuff like this, that the media will never tell, because it shows a humane, caring, grief stricken side of the man that contradicts the hateful warmonger that the media has painted him to be.Originally posted by BradMBut, just like condoms and women's rights, I don't believe in them.Originally posted by LeahIn other news: Brent's meat melts in your mouth.
