I've finally reached a point where my truck is nearly paid off. I don't have a desire to get rid of it. However it is giving me some problems. I need to have some head work done, I found out I've got a burnt valve or some other valve train issue on cylinder one. I've wanted to pick something up as a project for some time now. I've always had the Datsun 510 idea, but those are proving hard to find. I'm looking for some ideas here. Something I might be able to pick up for somewhere at or under $1000. Something that could have some autox potential would be good.

    Mid 70's Celica

    3rd Gen Supra

I tried to post a pic of a 1971 Celica, but it says I exceeded my usage or some shit.

Here's a link to the page from which I was going to get said pic.

I know that most people don't take notice of them, but I drove an 85' Supra through most of my college years, and now looking back I've got to say that it was a pretty damned cool car for it's day. I put a helluva lot of miles on that thing, took it to the beach several times, had the giant system with boomin 12's in the hatch, etc. (no fart can! ...it was pre-fart can era anyway).

What was impressive was how well it handled....but of course it had that Toyota reliability that never once left me stranded, and I wasn't easy on that car to say the least.

Anyways....it would be a bit off the path, but I've often thought about finding one of those cars, gutting it, fabbing up a wicked cage and some support for it, and then of course do the LS+ power adder swap.

Call me crazy, but you sure don't see many of them anymore. (first mod I ever did on that car was to remove that upper rear wing).

I've been looking around the last few days, pictures and what not. I'm actually leaning toward a first Gen Mustang coupe.....
