I've never tried to donate, but just the sight of a giant needle sends my blood pressure through the roof.

I had some minor surgery last year and I thought the nurses were going to have a heart attack during the preop, they kept lecturing me about high blood pressure. I told them not to worry about it, after surgery once I was relaxed it was 120/80

I do when the bus comes by work.

Getting old though...I get nauseous now when I used to feel fine afterward.

I give too fast that it makes me almost pass out so I quit giving

Wish I could but fear of needles and Hep C puts on the brakes. J/k I do often

This is a serious question... I am a cancer patient... can I donate since it is completely contained, or is just that thing they will not want it?

They don't like me because my blood is 20% Vodka, but applaud the thread. Blood drives are important to the community, especially in the event of a mass casualty situation.

The Medical Director for the facility has to make that determination. As far as I know, the only cancer patients that can donate are ones with simple skin cancer (non Melanoma) or be beyond a certain period of remission. Any form of cancer like Hodgkins or someone with a malignant tumor will usually disqualify you. People under going Chemotherapy or Radiation therapy should not give blood.
