Depends on what you like. I go to one place for one thing, another for barbacoa, another for fajitas, etc.

LHR is the same ownership as Mariano's. You're not talking about Esparza's, are you? That place sucks.

I knew Mariano's owned LHR, I still prefer Mariano's over them though. No-Esparza's is another highly over-rated place. This is a hole in the wall that's been there forever-a mom and pop place.

              *edit* just found it-Los Amigos.

oh and for places that are open... Tipicos. There's one by the old Baby Dolls on Northwest Highway towards Love Field, and another in Carrollton/Farmers Branch off Beltline and Josey area. Very good dirty Taqueria style Tex-Mex.

La Mexicana y El Gringo off Story and Rochelle has some pretty damn good breakfast tacos for sure. I haven't had anything other than breakfast and brunch items there, but what I have had was pretty good. They offer Tex-Mex as well as more traditional Mexican food items... Oh and they have Horchata in the gas station style drink coolers.

Angelina's in The Colony has always been good too for basic Tex-Mex style Mexican food.

For street style tacos, the Fina off Northwest Highway and Harry Hines, if you didn't know, now you do! Fucking awesome Tacos.

And for barbacoa, homemade tortillas, carnitas, etc.. to go... La Sabrasita Tortilleria off Beltline in Carrollton/Farmers Branch, right behind Tipicos, kind of.... You know it's good when there's a line on Saturday and Sundays around 11am full of Mexicans and they all look at the gringo in line funny

Subscribing. Mexican is my favorite. Haven't seen a place to try on my side of town that has been mentioned yet though.

Good call Leah. Everyone I know who has been loves Los Amigos off NW Highway in grapevine.

                                My favs:

Taco Diner in Las Colinas : I love how they do their brisket tacos for lunch. Havent even bothered with anything else on their menu.

Baja Grill : best margarita's in town. PERIOD. Food is pretty choice too! My default choice to go to.

Anamia's : Best tableside guac. Pretty good food. Terrible ritas.

Uncle Julios: Pretty tasty Chicken Fajitas. Good, but pricy ritas.

Los Mocojetes (?) : Pretty good mix of good ritas and good fajitas.

La Hacienda Ranch : Pretty good all around!
