Doesn't hurt, just really annoying. Doesn't itch either.

You might have some drainage causing the irritation in your ear. Have you taken anything for sinus congestion? If not, try that out and see if it helps.

YEEEEP, same thing happens to my 10 yr old and myself when allergies start acting up. My nose could be clear but the sinuses in my head would still be full and cause discomfort/pressure/itching/irritating sensation in my ear canals.

any kind of medication that is intended to dry up sinuses will work. The zyrtec will help to keep it from coming back, but I dunno how well it works with existing congestion/drainage. Does it normally dry you up pretty well?
