Since it seems like I have to spell it out:

Taking your dog to the park, in a big concrete box store with wide isles , out for a drive so he can chill out, over to your buddies house, out to the lake, etc = good

Taking your fucking mutt into a a grocery store, or a restaurant= bad.

C'mon dude, the OP specifically mentioned Home Depot. And your post was pretty generalized and vague:

The dog would be happier at home.

That is what we were addressing. I don't know if I have ever seen a dog that would be happier at home than out with it's owner / pack leader.
