Witty. Almost makes me confused as to how you wound up with a car on your chest.

Consider yourself lucky. Invest in some good jack stands. When I work under the car alone, I use jack stands and a 3 ton jack for redundancy. Don't red-neck it by using blocks and ramps. Do it right. It's not worth your life. Mistakes are always going to happen to everyone from time to time, but preparation goes a long way.

Most people I talk to have nothing but good things to say about you, but you sure come across as a condescending prick. Do you have an inferiority complex you've attempted to overcome through overachievement? Or were you fondled as a child?

You and slow99 should date. You both have passive aggressiveness down pat.

Then go see a doctor. If something's really damaged, now's the time to get a solution in place, not later when the shoulder gets re-injured doing something else. Just so you know, your dad's first response should've been to take you to the ER, not make you finish the work.

                        • Damn dude, you are lucky to be alive and I bet you never pull that shit again.

Had my own nervous moments yesterday. Went to the 2nd avenue pick N pull to grab an EVAP vent valve for a taurus. They use wheels to hold the car up, one on either side frame rail, in between the door and the front fender, then one more wheel right on the trunk pan. To get the part I needed, the trunk pan wheel had to move, so I lifted the back of the car while my dad slid the wheel under the rear suspension. I was nervous as hell trying to get that part I needed, just knew that the whole ass of the car was going to fall on me.

Then I was changing the oil on a 97 Buick Lesabre. Put it up on JACKSTANDS and started draining the oil. While looking for my oil filter tool, I heard a loud bang. One of the jackstands broke, it effectively did the splits, popped the lower support band off from the legs. It held, but it still bent the shit out of the stand. Goes to show that even jack stands can have issues.

Listen to this guy. People are telling you to go have it checked for a reason.

                            • Rub some dirt on it and jog it off.

I was changing my rear tires at the Denton track one night. All the spots on the pavement were taken by the stunters running 10s so I had to park on the grass. I jacked the car up and the ground was soft, the car shifted and the little jack I had turned over onto its side. The car moved sideways quite a bit and pinned my foot underneath the rear drum as it fell. Luckily this was soft ground and not a lot of weight I just pulled my foot out with some effort.

Always use redundant ways to keep the car up if you are getting under it. I'll jack it up, put stands under it and leave the jack in place. And even then I might put some old junk wheels under it if I am going to leave it in the air for a while.
