I know it's been said atleast once in here. PEPPER SPRAY! It works! I have first hand knowledge on more than one occasion. Police and Animal Control will not do anything unless the dog is actually outside the fence.

Animal control actually came to my house because they said there was a report that my dog was 'jumping up high on the fence'. They came out one day because someone was scared of my wife's pot-bellied pig that was sleeping in the yard, even though he is harmless and our yard fully fenced. They told us that they have to respond to every call no matter how silly. It might be just in our city though.

Also, I was referring to the fact that the guy "warned" them, as it does sound like a threat to me also.

I am an idiot because I think a gun is overkill. Got it! If you thought pepperspray was the answer you could have said that at post 44 and be done. You had to make some stupid comment about a gun as protection which implies quite a bit. My very first comment provided two solutions ONE which was mentioned several times throughout this thread. If you agree something other than a gun should be used then why are you arguing against my point of NOT using a gun. All you had to say was use something like pepperspray but by you keep arguing you are defending the use of a gun which obviously shows which side of the argument you are on. Make sense?

Our dog is a Golden Retriever/Irish Setter mix with the most laid back disposition of any dog I have EVER had. She's about 70lbs.

While I am sure she would defend my daughter and MIL with all of her ability, I don't know how well she would fare against a dog that has a propensity to attack other dogs and is obviously more inclined to injure or maim than our dog.

I'm LOL'ing over here at where this thread has gone. I never would have thought it would have gotten this heated. Then again, I guess I should've realized where I was posting the question ! Haha !
