    28.

It was a 730 fall of 2010 but not sure now. I used to be on MyFico but decided to stop paying for service.

I assume I should be well over 750 now. I paid off a card with my tax return and have a paid off a car note this month.

I only know about credit after fixing my 1 credit mistake from when I was 20 years old.

You'd be surprised at how poor the record keeping at some of those places actually is.

You could always try freecreditreport.com ?

I think also you get one free credit report from each bureau each year.
                I would not use freecreditreport.com.
Go to www.annualcreditreport.com and you can order a free credit report from each bureau once a year(this is backed by the Federal Trade Commission).
I usually space them out to make sure I am fully covered though out the year.
They will NOT give you your beacon score though, but you get everything else.
If you want a beacon, you can pay directly with any CBR agency.
Whenever I was purchasing a vehicle once, they ran a CBR on me and I requested to see a copy of the CBR, and they showed me the entire report, including my beacon score.

Is your credit card debt under 30% of your credit limit?

If so, what the fuck man? With a 700 you should have no issue.

I know that some lenders don't like to see pending debt on your credit report, so for instance you're applying for something and you owe on something that went to collections or whatever, they want you to pay it before they will lend.

You could reach out to the place you paid off this debt with and ask them for an email or letter stating you do not owe anymore. Try taking that back to the lender you got denied with and see if they can approve you now. Try to avoid filling out a new pre-approval form because it'll be a hard inquiry on your report and will ding you a little bit.

yea... that's about what my face looked like when i read the letter.

trans union is a sloppy careless organization who reports things wrecklessly.

i found out when i decided to help my brother's interest rate out by cosigning on a car when instead of helping, they essentially hurried him off the lot.

see cortez vs trans union for identical experience.

his dispute began when Cortez encountered problems with a credit report that Trans Union sent to a car dealership where she was trying to purchase a car. It stemmed from a Trans Union product called "OFAC Advisor" that confused Cortez's identity with the identity of someone with a similar name who was on a list compiled by the Treasury Department's Office of Foreign Assets Control ("OFAC").

I figure I'll take advantage of keeping the money and making some interest on it for the 12 months and just setup bill pay to make sure it gets paid off. Here is the kicker. They denied me! Any advice?

you should have called up the original hospital/doctors office which sent the bill to collections and explained situation to them. them tell them you would pay the bill plus late fee to have the account brought out of collection. if they are a smaller practice they would probably do it.

                          or

should have disputed the collection with all 3 bureaus.

                          or

should have sent the collection agency a certified Pay for Delete (PFD) letter and let them respond to written communication before paying.

paying the collection agency directly with no agreement has left you with a paid collection on your record. the only thing that's marginally better than is an unpaid collection
This is very true . Now all you have is a paid collection. ALWAYS do PFD.

Hello all, this is my first post.

I used to work at a credit repair company and spend lots of time at credit forums, so I think I can help.

mustangguy289 was right about MyFICO. They are the only ones that offer your real FICO scores (the ones that all the lenders use). If you get them anywhere else, besides myfico or a lender, they are fake scores, commonly referred to as FAKOs. So, CreditKarma.com is a waste of your time.

You can find out a lot more about this stuff at http://aaacreditguide.com/forums/ It's a forum just like this where they discuss credit issues all day. Lots of people have had great success using the methods at that site. There are a few other great credit forums as well, but AAA is my favorite.

                                Best of luck!
