Yup and good ideas for trips too. Although CJ has an epic trip, that's winning.

Most likely not, but I'll at least stop through on my way to the boot in June.

Next weekend we are renting a large log cabin In Broken Bow, OK with two other couples for 4 days
Then Sometime. Around Oct the wife and I are probably going to do a trip to Jamaica or something like that. We normally do Mexico but it sounds like that might not be the safest trip this year

Lots of people that live on a budget and dont make much money go on vacations. Some just have to save longer. It's all about priorities.

We are fortunate. My wife is the VP of a company in San Diego so she convinced the CEO that the amount of a beachside rental in Del Mar is roughly the same as travel expenses (flight, car, hotel, per diem).

Broken Bow is cool. Take some bug spray for sure. Last time that we went...the boy and I went tromping off in the woods without any spray. We walked into a tick nest (that is what the doctor said probably happened) and ended up having to have ticks removed from some rather delicate areas. I had two trying to burrow into the underside of my german helmet.

No. She flies out there for 3 days every other week. We contemplated moving out there permanently but that would make her present salary which is very good for N Texas not be so hot in SD. We went out there with her in January for a week and everything is expensive out there..especially housing. Her coworker pays $2500/month for a 900 sq ft townhouse that is just ok. It is not extravagant at all. I guess that is Cali for you. I know this sounds shitty...but while she is tied up at work, the boy and I will spend some time in the mountains, the desert and plenty of time on the beach. Hell I may even take a ton of pics and post 'em here.

We are spending a week in Florida at my son's baseball World Series and then we are headed to the Beaches Resort at Turks and Caicos for another week. A friend of my wifes stayed there with her family and said it was amazing. Our suite opens onto the beach! Cant wait.
Sounds like you guys are going to have a blast as well. And grats for your son on making it to the WS.

It's all higher, but any decent-sized city near the coast is astronomical, and as you get closer to the ocean it goes up exponentially. In the neighborhood just north of me there are older homes that I would say range from $200k-$300k in a nice neighborhood in the metroplex, and the last one I saw with a for sale sign out front was priced just over $800k. There are other's that are "worth" well over $1M, that are just older 4 and 5 bedroom houses, and this is about 20 minutes from the closest beach.

Yeah for sure. We are just excited to get to experience all of what S. Cali has to offer on her bosses dime. I am sure it will still cost us some...but for what we are getting I can't complain. Where are you at?

It doesn't sound shitty at all. Shitty would be keeping the kid cooped up in the rental all day while she's at work, when there's so much to do and see!
I recommend taking the Old Town Trolly Tour while y'all are out there. In a day's time, you can hit Seaside Village, The Gaslamp Dist, Old Town, Balboa Park, and Coronado Island in one swoop.

                                It's cool...hard to tell a person's motivations online.
