  • How much to offer for a 350?

I never messed with Chevy motors but I have a friend with a 350 in his garage in the way. He doesn't know much about it and figures its going to need a rebuild. Its is complete minus carb and distributor. How much are these worth? Thinking about for a future project.

If it's old and has some better heads and is a 4-bolt block, maybe a little more.

sounds steep for a builder with no carb or electronics

It's only the most mass produced V8 on the planet. $50-60 max, he helps load it, and you're doing your buddy a solid favor....

They're not worth anything. Tell him I'll do him a favor and come get it out of the way for him.

I've paid $300 for 30day guaranteed running engines complete. A rebuildable core would be far less.

Depends on what it is. If it is a 010 block, it would be worth more money due to being a higher nickel content. The heads alone could be worth several hundred dollars depending on what they are, such as the 487X heads. Those were only on the 1970-1972 LT-1s and highly desirable to dirt track racers. You have to be able to sell it to a knowledgeable person if it is worth anything otherwise $100 max.

$100 unless its got an older 4 bolt AND steel crank.

This, plus you really need to pull the heads and see what the bore is.

2 piece rear mains are harder to find these days as well, value wise they aren't worth much more but it'll be easier to move.

I gave $300.00 for a SBC 400 with 4 bolt mains, .030 over. Ready for assembly. The machining from what I am told will run you $300.00 alone. Now I just wish I had the money to build the damn thing. LOL Still sitting in my garage looking pretty.
