Cool tools you have or have gotten as gifts?

I have been wanting a good cordless impact for a while now. I have grown to hate cordless tools though. I have gone through so many cordless drills in the past 3 years that its crazy. The drills last but the batteries keep going bad!

I have been meaning to buy a set of ratcheting wrenches for a while though. Those things are worth their weight in gold!

Mine was the black handled "Professional" series.

I also love my 1/2" battery impact.

The cheapest, coolest tool I've received(and since have given out a few myself) is the magnetic fingertip.

I use this sander like crazy for all my wood working stuff. I like to find out junk and refinish it and add/subtract things to it for my own purposes. Old head boards, tables and whatever. This thing saved me a lot of hand sanding. Hand does go numb after a using for 30+ minutes after a few hours you're shot. Still better then mass hand sanding.

I have one of those, same brand but square shape which works well with traditional sandpaper sheets. One sheet cuts down to four seperate pieces. I love it.

Yeah I havent messed with those yet. I wonder if those are lithium ion polymer batteries, aka "LiPo". I have messed with those in RC vehicles and they are awsome but dangerous. You are supposed to charge them in fire proof containers in case they suddenly burst into flames.

But they do rock as far as not developing "memory"

My wratcheting swcrew drivers, big one for working on bikes and small one fits perfectly into the jets on my carbs.

my drill press, compound miter, air compressor, brad nailer, and craftsman roll around have all been gifts.

I love my Snap-On 3/8 and 1/2 Electric Impacts. They work way better than the Makitas i have had. No use for air hoses anymore. Normally switch between those two for everything. Now all i need is a good 3/8 electric ratchet.

Heres a few oddities I have-


I while back I set up this work bench to reload ammunition. For those not really into shooting, the red press closest to the camera is for reloading spent shell casings. You can reuse ammo you have already fired by using the press to re-size it. The powder measure next to it dispenses powder into each casing, and you can re-seat a bullet using a different attachement in the press. Pretty cool stuff, and you can save some money-

I got a dewalt version of that, it's nice for finishing before I go hand sanding stuff. If you want to really get down and dirty the orbital is the answer man, especially for refinishing.

Heh, actually that's why I bought the orbital. Tried using the square one and about tore it up.

I've had pretty good success just using fine sandpaper, but haven't used it for anything I plan to stain.

One of the coolest things I've bought for myself lately was an oil extractor. You suck the oil out through the dip stick tube, I never thought they worked, but it is completely worth it... On my car the oil filer can be changed from the top so this saves having to jack up the car, remove all the underbelly covers etc.
