    Is anyone really surpised?

People in Michigan will get pulled over for something like having a tail light out and when they object to this cell phone downloading the cop will threaten them with jail for the traffic violation in order to try to force them to submit.

They'll get to violate the law for years until someone has the warchest to take it all the way to the Supreme Court and have it ruled a violation of the fourth amendment. Just like the Chicago/DC handgun laws. We live in a defacto police state when it comes to these issues because they can do what they want and use our tax dollars to defend, all the way up to the point that the ruling at the SC goes against them.

Then once they get you in custody, they will scan your phone anyways so the fight is all for nothing.

But for the record, yes. I'm surprised. I wish we could get a President with a spine to put a fucking stop to all this nonsense.

true but there are differences in this.
1 . there is much more than email on there, lots of types of data, some not transferred to anything in clear text like email is.
        2. they dont come to your house and scan your whole computer, which is a much more similar comparison to todays handheld devices.
        3. they can't hack into your computer from afar and download everything on the hard drive, again very similar to this.

Hell they just found out that the iphone stores gps info on where you have been for up to a year. Then every time you sync it gets stored in hidden folder.

You think? Luckily they aren't trained to diagnose haemophilia and as far as I'm concerned I suffer from it. Nope, I won't do a breathalyzer either. I'll piss all over a cup for you if you'd like though.

Not mine they won't, because I don't have one for the fucking faggots to scan. lol

these are elected officials passing this crap. if you don't like their policy get them and everyone else out that votes that way.

if elections are too far away, use bullets.

I don't see this staying around too long. Seems over the top and fishing for stuff you legally shouldn't be able to obtain.

HA! thats exactly what I thought, so many years ago when i started reading about cops forcefully drawing blood.
Now like the whole damn country does it in many places.
"it's for your own good, you don't want to get killed by a drunk driver, right ?"

really getting curious to how the case law panned out on that to hold up in court , any one know a case where it was challenged?

lol, I'm the only one not getting all riled up by this....why?

Turn it off...problem solved during traffic stops. They can't scan what's not powered up. My EVO takes about 10 seconds to turn off.

Yeah yeah, our civil liberties are all being violated...just like they have been for years and years...get used to it baaaaaaa...i mean sheep.

What? The picture shown in the article shows a cable from the phone to the scanner. You're acting like they scan it wirelessly. I'm sure the police, that are only here for our safety, have no problem waiting 20 seconds for you to turn it back on.
