CLEVELAND, Ohio - Three people were struck by a car and police are searching for the individual they say was responsible after a melee broke out at the McDonald's 'National Hiring Day' event at St. Clair Ave. and East 105th St.
Det. Theodore Perez with the Cleveland Police Department tells Fox 8 News' Melissa Reid, a fight broke between two females outside the event.
Sgt. Joseph O'Neal with the Cleveland Police Department says one of the women was asked to leave by the owner and operator of the McDonald's and the store's manager.
Sgt. O'Neal says the woman who was asked to leave jumped in a car, along with another woman, and backed-up the vehicle striking the owner, manager and the woman with whom she was fighting.
Det. Perez says all three people struck by the vehicle were taken to a local hospital with injuries.
The driver of the vehicle drove from the scene and dumped the car a few blocks later. Police say she took off running east on St. Clair Ave. and is still on the loose.
The passenger in the car was arrested for her role in the crime. Neither have been charged yet according to Sgt. O'Neal.
McDonald's spokesperson Joe Woods tells Fox 8 News that the building will be closed until 5:00 p.m. as police continue their investigation and clear the scene.
Woods says the company is very concerned for the safety of its customers and all those applying for jobs today at McDonald's. Woods added that today's arrests will not affect the 'National Hiring Day' event.
