You are right on those points. I think she needs an in between job until she gets what she really wants.

Again, you're telling me office positions are suddenly paying minimum wage rates? I call bullshit.

I'm not saying she should take a job that pays exactly what childcare costs. I'm saying office positions pay quite a bit more than minimum wage. Minimum wage is $989/month (assuming a 40 hour work week). That's calculated using $5.75/hr. I don't even know what minimum wage is these days.

I'll review you resume if you want.

Bcoop, telling her to take a job that pays less than unemployment is terrible advice. Put yourself in the same position.

Where did I tell her that? You're putting words in my mouth.

              $7.25/hour so it's $1160/month.

No, I'm not saying that, you did. I was just pointing out the flaw in how you worded that argument.

How much money are you looking for? Just curious. We hired an admin here recently and pay her $38.5K.

I worded it exactly as I meant it. I'm not the one that said she can't find a job making more than what her childcare costs. She did.

And as for the taking less than unemployment pays, that's debateable even though I never said to take a job making less than unemployment pays. Last time I took unemployment, it was capped at $350/wk. Granted, that was well over 6 years ago. When you consider that she HAS to have health insurance, unemployment really isn't an option at all. But again, I never said she should take a job for less than unemployment.

Most Admin positions pay 13 to 14 bucks and hour. That simply will not justify relocating, paying way more in childcare, rent, and not having any family or knowing anyone that could help with my daughter if I have to work late or stuck in traffic and can’t pick her up etc.

Bcoop you forget I'm a single mother with absolutely NO help. So there is a lot more to my logic than I care to post. You're right; I'm not hurting bad enough to get on welfare and food stamps to support my daughter but that does not mean I'm not eager about finding a good job.

                            That just proves my point.

Ash, I haven't forgotten that you're a single mother. You forget I was a single father making $9/hr with no help. It can be done. You act like it can't, or that you're not willing to. That's all I'm getting at.
