If you go to a "small" time shop, and offer them cash, you can usually get a great deal. We got my wifes ring for $1,200, to find out its a 3k ring!! 1/4 carat green diamond, white gold, with a few small diamonds around the edges..

Haha, no-I've got a beautiful ring that I couldn't be happier with and a great marriage, but the first time around sucked donkey bawls and I wouldn't want to do that again. Wait until you're 30 or so then take the plunge. You make much better decisions.

Look at prices at Costco, Sam's Club, and on bluenile.com (they are one of the cheapest online places), then find a local place that will beat their pricing.

Marrying her should be enough. Why spend $5k-$10k to show your love for her??? you'll just end up spending that much to divorce her.
