LMAO, It wasn't fraud. I stupidly put the earrings in a juice glass when we went to visit the in-laws. I'd told my ex and MIL not to touch the glass, but my father in law took it to the kitchen. Andrew was talking and doing dishes, and never saw them. My MIL felt like crap, and I was heartbroken. My ins agent suggested we file a claim against our valuable personal property policy, since that's what we had it for. I wasn't heartbroken for long.

How does the insurance company value it?

The evidence drain went down the drain, literally, and the only evidence of ownership is a receipt. Wouldn't the receipt show the value you paid? I figure that's what you would get reimbursed on.

I've never filed a claim like that, so I have no idea how it works.

How can you get the best deal on a engagement ring and wedding ring. Thinking about 1ct, white gold, princess or cushion cut, eternity band wedding ring.

Any advice would be great. I figure like most things these have a fairly steep mark-up and they pray on the suckers who walk into the mall and finance their life away. Any way to avoid the b.s. and get the most for your money?

It was GIA certified, so it came with an appraisal card listing the value. The mangled platinum settings and a few random shards of the diamonds were pulled from the disposal, so I sent them in with the card when I filed my claim.

If it's a certified stone it will have a card or a letter, hell, the really expensive stones will be laser inscribed with their registration number.

Or when you get the policy, get each item appraised, or a stated value on each item insured.
