Canyon Lake down in the Hill Country is fucking awesome as far as camping goes. Get it out of the way before it gets too hot! Oh, and if you end up doing this, bring an old pair of tennis shoes to wear in the lake. The entire bottom is limestone, and not having shoes on could cause a broken toe or foot. The lake is absolutely goregeous, and by far, the most clear water I've found in Texas.

Lake Bob Sandlin was really cool last year. We may be doing that again at the end of the summer.

I like the Wichita Mountains in Oklahoma. Great, easy hiking and camping.

We camped down the road from the pond. We got a spot right on the water and the weather was great.

                  Very quiet.

Down the trail or at a non-primitive spot? I wish they allowed fires. We built one, but buried it to be sure not to get in trouble.

Non-primitive spot. The wife needs the electricity and water. The non-primitive spot was nice. It had a nice pit for a good fire and was fairly large. The spot was about 30 yards deep since the water level was low and 20 yards wide. We had enough for at least three tents.
