For those who say a .223 isn't enough to stop a hog ^^^^^^ that should answer your question.

I've seen a hog taken with an air rifle.

I was just thinking, after looking at the dust the impacts kicked up, that HAS to be bigger than a .223. But the barrel sure looks small.

Oh, I believe it is. There are a lot of projectiles out there now for the .223 that definitely punch above their weight class.

.223 is a really nice round. They generate a lot more energy than most people realize. I have very little "ballistic" knowledge, but I went to a course years ago that showed what different rounds do to gelatine at various distances, and I was surprised at some of the damage smaller calibers (.22-250, .223, etc.) will do.

Anyone know the cost of a chopper hunt like that?

Not sure if serious, but, depending on the intended use...
The 70gr Barnes TSX/TAC-X, 75gr Hornady OTM, 62gr Federal bonded JSP, and 60gr Nosler partition are good penetrating, hard-hitting ones.
For lighter use (varmits, etc.), any of the V-max family do well.
