I got it for two reasons. First, because I wanted to get a semi-auto shotgun (only other shotgun I have is a Mossberg 500) and, second, because I wanted to get into 3-gun. Now, I know you don't have to have a semi-auto shotgun for 3-gun and the M500 would have worked fine, but now that I have it I will use it. I have tried to do several competitions, but something always seems to come up (canceled due to rain, something else more important so I can't go, there isn't one scheduled for the time I am home, etc). I hope next time I am home I can shoot some kind of competition.
I assume the loading area modification you are referring to looks something like this:
I THINK the factory is forked at the end causing your finger to get snagged. I heard they just weld it and smooth it out.

Yeah, that looks good as hell, whoever did it. I know a guy who can do your loading gate like that. C-RUMS, he is known for that and other than the polish, that looks like his work. He did my FN. Those things are like a two pronged pitch fork just waiting to rip your thumbnail off. (ask me how I know) So I think that the 50 bucks or so that it costs is well worth it.
But where they opened up that loading port looks very good. I know that C-RUMS will do that too I just don't know the price on that. I can take a pic of what the bottom of my FN looks like if you would like to see that. And if you have any questions about different setups for the 3 gun just let me know. I've tried a few different setups and I think I have down what I'm going to run for a while.
My few pieces of advice for the shotgun is....
-PRACTICE with your slugs, you can loose a butt ton of time from slugs and all you have to do is find out where your gun shoots them. Mine shoots them EXTREMELY high, not saying that yours will, but if I didn't practice with mine it would cost me dearly.
-Practice reloading with dummy rounds, IMO a lot of stages are lost from the shotgun in general but a lot of it is the reloads as most stages are designed to make you reload at least once. I've been shooting for a little over a year and mine are around 9 seconds from last shot fired, load 8, and next shot fired back on target. It just takes practice.
-And it sounds silly, but don't miss, lol. The reloading thing takes forever (compared to the other two guns) and getting in a hurry is only going to slow you down a lot if you have to go back and make up shots.
I shot a pump for probably the first 9 months and then switched over to an autoloader. Such a difference. No it's not necessary, but it speeds you up quite a bit when you are laying down.
Sorry to thread jack, but I figured I'd pass that along to you man.04 2.6 KB'd Cobra!

Thanks for all of the info. I will keep C-RUMS into mind when I get some work done. I want to do at least one competition before I start making modifications. I also have a Springfield Range Officer (1911) that I plan on using and I will want some stuff done to it. I might make an exception to the loading gate though. I don't want to lose another nail. I dropped armor on my foot here in Afghanistan and lost my big toe's nail.
I know Accurate Iron is a popular place to get work done, but damn if they won't fix their website. I think it has been 'coming soon' for a couple of years now.
Feel free to PM pictures of your FN, I wouldn't mind seeing the kind of work that C-RUMS performs. Or post it in here I guess, it is a shotgun thread.
