As far as holding a egde what angle are you sharpening it to.
I do mine at 19 degree's and they are razor sharp and hold a decent edge for everyday stuff. Ive only got some cheapo's and a couple kershaws. the s30v blade will stay sharper longer, but it also takes longer to get it that sharp.
If i use them alot i can usually use a strop and get it sharp. I might sharpen them once a month with my stones. Mine is mainly used on twine, cardboard, twigs, skinning, fish and so on.
I've been happy with my kershaws except my s30v blur needs the tension screw tightened from time to time.
