wonder if all that barrel length helps a ton or if 45 super would be good too out of a G21 with 6" barrel. still wanna try that someday

Oh hell yeah, have you seen the differences in velocity between a levergun and a pistol?

        My 6" Model 29 slings a 200gr @ 1500fps REALLY hot. A levergun will hit 2200fps.

.45 super does well in short barrels, not as much of a gain as other calibers such as .454. It's a short quick burn.

45 Super won't get anywhere near .44 Magnum except maybe non-optimized loads out of a short barrel. 460 Rowland has some potential, though.

Exactly. .45 super brings a mild 230gr from 800fps to 1100, that's about the extent of it's capabilities. All it does it increase case pressure to a more standardized level. Really cool and convenient if you have a fully supported chamber, but pointless if you don't already have a .45 ACP gun.

Big caliber pistol magnums are lots of fun out of leverguns. I love shooting 41 mag through a marlin, although its not quite as exciting as through a wheel gun

You have a Marlin chambered in 41 mag?

I have a 44mag in a Henry Big Boy. Would love to trade it for a 1894S.

I assume for reasons unrelated to ballistics?

Yep. I inherited it...I have never been a fan of the "golden" guns. I have a Marlin lever in .45/70 that I have no use for either.

I spent a few months actively searching for one and I found one on THF for $850. I almost pulled the trigger on it but found an even better deal somewhat locally. The one on THF was the FG which wasn't my preference so I'm glad I found the S model

Unfortunately not really a point to me getting a 44mag as the 2 wheelguns I have right now match the 1894S: a Smith M57 and 657 both no dash

Maybe someday I'll have a 44 mag. I wouldnt mind finding a Model 29 in blue

hmm, interested in parting with them?
