Went to the gun show here today and found that the knife vendors had a couple guns for sale. Apparently he had traded this Taurus for some knives and didn't really have a use for it. Got a smokin deal on it. Been looking a long time for a Smith and Wesson but I can't be mad about picking up a shooter like this in good condition for cheap. Got a Taurus 66 and checked it out like you should any used revolver before purchasing. Not any flaws I can see other than missing a grip screw.

You kidding? Its a great shooter. Was putting together great groups with it once I adjusted the sights. Timing all checks out great, locks up tight and is in good shape. Sucks you had a bad experience with them. Did you get yours after Taurus and S&W split up?

Definitely not in the budget right now. I do want an HK45 in the future, but for right now I was just trying to find a cheap little something to have fun with at the range. I already had 38/357 dies for my SDB and some brass I picked up so it seemed like a great idea, and so far it has been. Maybe after the wedding and moving to the new base an HK would be in the cards.

I'm not. Glad it's a good shooter for you, but I doubt I'll ever roll the dice on a Taurus again.

It really seems like lots of manufacturers have had a serious decline in QC and even the way the weapons are manufactured. Hell, Marlin, Ruger, Remington just to name a few have had a similar progression. I love my old Marlin and my old Wingmaster but would seriously debate on whether or not to buy a new firearm from any of those companies. I am seriously disappointed with both my Mk III and 10/22. I have changed out just about every part on the 10/22 so its nothing that it once was, but the Mk III has been nothing but trouble. I was even looking at a brand new Remington 870 and thought it was just fine, but I was told to check out some older models and its a night and day difference.

This thing is a great shooter. Got it on the cheap and looks and feels just like a S&W 686, no kidding. I've heard plenty of horror stories about current model firearms but figured at this price I have seen them sell for even more so couldn't go too wrong with the condition its in. If I were in Dallas still I'd let you put some rounds through it. Trigger breaks very clean and locks up tight. No complaints here other than I don't have enough .38 spl brass yet lol

I almost traded my Winchester 101 for a Superposed trap edition and I still might.
