A few months back I was out at the range with CJ and had the opportunity to shoot his vintage A1 he'd built with a Colt M16A1 kit. This was a huge deal for me because my grandfather served in Vietnam and has told me countless stories from the battlefield, so I had to have one. After doing some looking around for a kit I got a lead that a board member had one who might be willing to part with it, and he was.
This Colt M16A1 kit will be going with a Nodak Spud retro A1 lower (minus the auto trigger, hammer and sear). The barrel is getting dropped off on Monday to be parkerized and then this'll make it's way to MGS to have the front sight attached.
I'm mostly looking forward to surprising my grandfather with a trip to the range here in a couple months and him shooting something similar to what he used in combat.
